A local effort focused on accountability, transparency, and giving residents a say.

Why This Petition?

Many people in St. Albert are feeling unheard. This effort is not about partisanship or ideology; it is about ensuring our community has an MLA who is accessible, accountable, and genuinely committed to representing the families who actually live here.

Over the past decade, residents have raised serious concerns about Marie Renaud’s approach to constituent engagement. Too often, parents who raise valid questions are treated as the problem. Constituents who disagree with her specific worldview are shut out, which erodes trust and leaves a large portion of our city feeling unrepresented. Representation isn’t just for those who agree with you; it’s a core responsibility of an elected official to listen to everyone.

We’ve also watched her voting record move in a direction that distances parents from their children, specifically her support for Bill 24. This legislation forced schools to keep secrets from parents, normalizing the exclusion of mothers and fathers from critical discussions about their own kids. While framed as "safety," many in our community see it as an overreach that overrides parental rights. Major changes to how our schools operate should be approached with caution and broad discussion with families, not imposed through ideology.

Beyond legislation, questions have been raised about connection and priorities. Marie Renaud does not live in St. Albert, does not work in St. Albert outside of her political role, and after ten years, has little tangible progress to show for our community. While she focuses on activist causes and "safety" rhetoric in the Legislature, the practical needs of our local families, seniors, and businesses often take a backseat. At a time when we need a local champion, her focus on province-wide agendas feels out of touch with the daily reality of our city.

This effort is rooted in a simple idea: St. Albert deserves better representation. We deserve an MLA who listens to parents, who welcomes dialogue rather than shutting it down, and who prioritizes her constituents over a political cause.

This isn’t about political labels. It’s about strengthening our community and ensuring our voice is genuinely heard. Many of us believe it’s time for a change, not out of anger, but out of a shared hope for a representative who actually calls St. Albert home.

Many residents in St. Albert feel that their voices are no longer being heard. This movement reflects growing concerns about parental rights, accessibility, and an MLA who prioritizes ideology over local representation.

As stated in the reasoning for this effort:

"Personally, I do not believe that Marie Renaud is currently listening to the voices of St. Albert families while representing us in government... Her voting record, particularly on Bill 24, actively pushes parents out of their children's lives. She represents a cause, not her constituents, and uses our schools to push an agenda that many of us never agreed to." - Lilo Forsyth

These concerns go beyond a single vote. Parents have faced hostility when seeking answers about classroom policies. Marie Renaud has consistently supported measures that place secrecy between schools and families—policies that override the fundamental role of parents. Questions about her commitment to the community have also grown, stemming from the fact that she resides outside the riding and has little to show for a decade in office.

This is not about political sides. It’s about ensuring St. Albert has representation that listens, respects parents, and approaches education with transparency. Our community deserves an MLA who reflects our values and protects the partnership between families and schools that makes St. Albert strong.
